Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Medicare – Nursing Home Compare
This is the government’s program for overseeing Medicare and Medicaid services. This site offers guidance for health care purchasers and providers alike. CMS created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which you may want to ask questions. The Nursing Home Compare Web site now features a quality rating system that gives each nursing home a rating of between 1 and 5 stars. This rating is based on the star ratings for three separate categories: 1) health inspections, 2) quality measures, and 3) staffing levels.
RI Health Department
The Rhode Island Department of Health, Division of Facilities Regulation’s mission is to monitor and ensure that all healthcare facilities provide the highest quality of care and services in a clean and safe environment. They manage and coordinate the licensing of health care facilities and operate a public-centered, responsive and uniform enforcement program in accordance with state licensing standards.
RI Department of Human Services
Medicaid Long Term Care (LTC) services are available for individuals over age 65 and for individuals with disabilities. The types of services available include: Nursing Home Care or Home and Community Based Services. Each of these require a certain Level of Care to qualify. The Levels of Care are Highest need and High need. Only individuals who qualify for the Highest Level of Care are eligible for Nursing Facility care.
