An important update from us.

An Update from us on COVID-19

Good afternoon all,

I am writing to you today to share with you a few important items:
TESTING, VISITATION and VACCINATION.

TESTING

First our weekly testing of staff and residents has revealed 2 new cases
of COVID-19. This is NOT the news we were hoping for this Christmas
week, but frankly, given the numbers in our State, I can’t say I am
surprised. This brings our numbers to current positives: 3 and total
cumulative cases of COVID-19 to 14. These 2 new cases represent one
staff person who has not been in the building since December 4 and a
resident who is asymptomatic. This same resident was negative the week
before. All responsible parties in the effected household have been
notified that we are quarantining the household. Additionally, all staff
that have worked on that household for the last 2 weeks have been
notified. We have also reported to RIDOH. We will work diligently to
prevent the spread of the virus, but as we all have seen, when an
individual is asymptomatic, it is hard to know how long the virus has
been shedding and therefore exposing others. We continue to monitor the
residents in all households and apartments each shift for any change in
vital signs or a temperature, and will be ever so diligent about this is
this quarantined space. We are limiting the number of people entering
this space, using paper for dining and assigning one housekeeper who
will pay close attention to only cleaning this space and not other
common areas or households in the facility. I know you join me in
praying for a speedy eradication and recovery for those that are
positive!

VISITATION

With the statewide Pause at an end effective tomorrow, visitation is
again possible. I know many of you are desperate to see your loved ones
and we will work to try and schedule as many visits as possible.
Unfortunately, visitation is not possible on the quarantined unit, and
we will follow RIDOH guidance around visitation in the other households.
At this time, we believe that as long as we have quarantined the one
household, visitation will be allowed for the others. Therefore, please
call the front desk to schedule your next visit. In order to get as many
people in to visit as possible, we are extending the hours of visitation
to be from 9-5p M-F and 10a-4p Sa and Sun. Please make sure you arrive
on time, ie 15 minutes BEFORE your visit is to start so that we may
conduct screening. As before, you must wear a facemask for your entire
visit and you must maintain social distance. If you are not feeling
well, please call ahead to let us know that you need to reschedule your
visit Do not come to the building if you are unwell or have been exposed
to someone who has COVID-19.

VACCINATION

St Clare-Newport has partnered with CVS to provide the COVID-19 vaccine
to our residents and staff. We have been given TENTATIVE clinic dates of
January 8 and January 29. Please keep your eye out for a mailing that
will be going out tomorrow from us. This mailing will include
instructions, vaccine information, frequently asked questions, and a
consent form. It is imperative that you sign and return this immediately
so that we can begin to register your loved ones for these important
clinics. If you have questions after receiving the information, please
do not hesitate to contact St. Clare-Newport and we will attempt to
answer your questions.

We look forward to seeing you once again and hope you and yours continue
to be well.

‌Sincerely,

Mary Beth Daigneault
