An important update from us.

An Update from us on COVID-19

Good afternoon,

Finally Spring is here…and a bit of good news comes with it! We have
been getting more guidance from HEALTH on visitation and it seems as
though things are starting to loosen up. I know that staff here are
concerned about opening the doors wide as we have worked so hard to keep
your loved ones safe and healthy during this pandemic, yet we also know
that contact with loved ones is the best medicine!
The following continues to be true and necessary:

All visitors must be screened upon entry in to the facility and if there
are any exposures to unwell individuals, or you yourself are not feeling
well, you should not be coming.

All visitors must wear a face mask at all times during the visit.

Proper and frequent hand hygiene using a 60% alcohol sanitizer use is
necessary before and after all visits.

Social distancing during the visits must be maintained, though brief
embraces and hand holding are permitted as long as both parties are
desiring this, and BOTH are wearing their masks and hand hygiene is
completed before and after the physical contact.

Outdoor visitation continues to be the preferred area, however, when not
possible, common room visitation is the next preferred, and in room
visitation being reserved for those that are unable to tolerate leaving
their room or compassionate care visits.
If a visit occurs in the room or apartment, only one (1) visitor at a
time is permitted and they need to keep the visit in the room or
apartment, and not wander out into other spaces.

If the visit happens in a common area that is designated for visiting,
the maximum number of people who may visit at a time is two (2).

Environmental cleaning of high touch surfaces needs to be completed
between visits.

The following is new:

We are no longer holding deliveries for 24 hours. All mail, newspapers
and other items brought in will be able to go directly up to the
resident upon receiving.

Supervision of visits is no longer required, we need to emphasize here,
however, that social distancing still needs to be maintained if we are
to keep the virus at bay. We must say here that if people are not able
to comply with the requirements, ie mask wearing, and social distancing,
we will have to revert back to supervising visits.

Additionally, in our weekly calls, HEALTH has indicated that outings are
permissible. It is encouraged that masks remain on, windows in the
vehicle are down to allow for air flow, and it be few people in the
vehicle. Additionally if you are bringing your loved one to your home,
please follow the current state recommendations on household gatherings.
Upon return, we will be asking the resident to change clothes and bathe.
We will monitor for signs and symptoms closely after outings. We ask
that you please call ahead to arrange for outings, that way we can make
sure your loved one is ready for you!

Finally, we would encourage everyone to be tested regularly, you can
find testing sites and appointments at www.portal.ri.gov [1]. We would
also encourage everyone to get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible.
I am proud to say that 100% of our skilled facility residents have been
vaccinated and 95% of our assisted living residents as well. We continue
to test both residents and staff weekly and wait anxiously every
Saturday to see these results. We are very nervous that allowing these
out of facility visits will increase our numbers in the facility. If we
develop cases, we will continue to make you aware, and we will let you
know what adjustments need to be made with visitation.

Stay vigilant and stay well!
